Tough On Tobacco : Mumbai (progressive disco dance metal)

Tough on Tobacco is a 6-piece progressive disco dance metal bhojpuri act from Outer Mongolia.
Kidding.
Tough on Tobacco is a humour-tinged pop-rock-reggae sextet from Mumbai.
Yes. I said sextet.
Tough on Tobacco (the name) is meant as an anti-smoking mantra.
We smoke too much!!!!
Tobacco is bad for you. It is addictive. If you haven't started smoking, DON'T.
If you have, well, too bad, join me for a smoke? … (but really, DO NOT START SMOKING)
ToT began in 2007 as a two-man (Sidd Coutto/Hans Dalal) production project with the sole intention of making music for music's sake. It took a year for us to find a sound we were happy with

Junkyard Groove: Chennai (Rock)

Over the years the Indian sub continent has been brewing quiet a few underground rock bands, and in the summer of 2005 Chennai gave us Junkyard Groove. Ameeth Thomas, Siddharth Srinivasan and Craig Maxworth got together almost randomly and realized that they had something to contribute to the world of Indian Rock and Roll.

Ameeth started of his music career fronting a few other bands before Junkyard Groove, as was the same with the other guys. Siddharth the youngest of the ot played with bands that found there roots in classic and funk rock covers. Craig entered the music scene with a band that was pretty much a 'Rage Against The Machine' tribute band.

Maybe your reading this to find out more about Junkyard Groove. Or maybe you already know what ever you need to know about them, from Myspace and Facebook. Maybe you've seen them live at a few local rock competitions. Maybe you've seen them win every one of them. Maybe you've jumped around to heir music at shows like 'Rock In India', 'Channel V Launch PAD', 'Strawberry Fields'… etc Maybe you got a little to drunk and passed out before they finished heir set. Maybe you heard of them when they opened for the Dubai Desert Rock Festival. Or maybe you just came over to watch Iron Maiden and Incubus. Maybe you've listened to their music online and liked it. Maybe you hated it. Maybe you're sick and tired of waiting for their album to come out. Or maybe you felt better when you heard that the new GNR album might beat them to it

EKA: Delhi (Indi rock)

EKA (ay~kaa) Unity; Oneness
Having one and the same purpose
EKA, a three-letter sanskrit word, means unity, having one and same purpose. In musical terms, it means 'in unison' and for the band it means connecting and being one (EKA) with their innermost selves, with those who create music and with those who appreciate it.
EKA's Music
EKA calls its music 'Swatantra Rock' - music beyond music, time and boundaries.
To the band it means music ... which is born free ... with a purpose
... that has a feel of timelessness to it
... that knows no boundaries, geographical or that of the mind.
From Hindustani dholak to African djun-djuns, from Chinese gongs to Greek bouzouki there is a lot to get inspired from and even more to learn.
While composing & arranging a new song, EKA believes in going with the flow of music and developing it organically into a direction that the song demands.
EKA members find themselves blessed to have been born in a country, which has a rich legacy in terms of diversity of music and languages. With a blend of Hindi, Urdu and English, EKA's endeavour is to produce music that connects with every heart and every soul

Indus Creed: Mumbai (Rock)

Indus Creed is back! The trailblazers of the Indian rock movement return in a new, contemporary form. Call it IC 2.0 or Indus Creed in new form. Either way, Uday Benegal, Mahesh Tinaikar and Zubin Balaporia, the original frontman, guitar player and keyboard player of the pioneering band, are focused on the task at hand: to break new ground even as they slam it out.
It's been just over 10 years since Indus Creed shut shop. Many were perplexed as to why a band would suddenly call it a day at the peak of their success. After all, they were the first name on the lips of every Indian rock fan, with hits, awards and accolades stacked high and still climbing. Reasons and theories abound, but the truth is simple. The fellers were unhappy with the way the music biz in India was heading. It had become corporatized, crass and stifling. Additionally, they had reached a point individually where they wanted to explore different directions…musically and geographically.
Uday and guitarist Jayesh Gandhi went West, moving to New York City in 1999 with their newly formed Indo–rock and funk outfit Alms For Shanti. Nine years and many gigs later Uday returned to Bombay, where Mahesh and Zubin had remained. The axeman and keyboard wiz had both been busy too, separately making music as producers and collaborators in the studios, as well as with other bands. Uday and Mahesh first joined together with their acoustic band Whirling Kalapas, which began to make waves the moment they hit the stage. Zubin used to drop in to play the occasional gig with them. Inevitably, though, the three rockers couldn't resist crankin' it out loud…and the new Indus Creed was born.
